We stayed for a night while hiking the Borders Abbeys Way. This stay was very good value for money. Staff were friendly, the bar was weell-stocked, and the breakfast was good. Location was ideal, practically next to Kelso Abbey. The room was small and basic but fine for our purposes.
4-star for rooms because although ours was spacious and well equipped there was some noise from the cobbled road, plus late night revellers from the bar below (it was a weekend night). However seven of us had a very enjoyable meal and we had an excellent young waitress who was cheerful and efficient all evening long, aided by her colleagues, also friendly and helpful. It was a similar experience for breakfast which was a wide choice of cereals, pastries, and cooked, with the breakfast room well managed by the lady in charge; a very pleasant experience. Well located near the town centre. All in all we had a great time and based on our experience we would recommend the hotel as value for money and a great place to eat or stay or both.

Went for a meal with friends. The staff looked after us from the start and could not do anymore. The food was excellent and well presented. It was served quickly and the service was great. Excellent customer service. Highly recommend a visit.

Originally booked a room for the two of us, but had to ask for a room for three as our daughter needed to come with us too, the hotel were more than happy to help and we ended up with a lovely room for us all. We had a Scottish breakfast the next morning and it was excellent. Staff were very friendly and helpful for our short time there, can't thank them enough. Brilliant wee hotel .
